Top Hair Care Tips For Healthy Hair

Use gentle and professional-grade Shampoo & Conditioner.

The first step in caring for your hair is using a shampoo that will not strip away all the natural oils from your scalp. Many non-professional shampoos are not PH balanced to the human scalp, thus stripping the protective Barrie of its natural oils, leading to unhealthy, dry hair. Look for something professional-grade and free from harsh chemicals such as sulphates and parabens.

Side note: Do not wash your hair every day. Daily washing can strip the hair of its natural protective Barrie, tricking it into producing more oils and making your hair oiler over time.

A little shampoo goes a long way!

Don’t use too much Shampoo! Packing on Shampoo may seem like a good idea; however, when you buy a quality product, a little goes a long way because it is well-made and concentrated.

Unlike low-quality/non-professional Shampoo that is diluted with water. Helpful tip: add water to create a better lather & Shampoo the hair twice!!! The first will remove any oils, dirt, and product buildup. The 2nd will give the scalp a deeper cleanse.

Use sulphate-free shampoos and conditioners if you have colour-treated hair. Sulphates are found in many shampoo brands and can strip colour from your hair if used too often. This can lead to fading and brittleness of your hair, so make sure that you avoid using these types of shampoos regularly.

You’re using too much Conditioner!

Don’t over-condition! Too much will leave hair feeling heavy and weighed down.

Only apply Conditioner to mid-lengths and ends. Leave in for a couple of minutes. And rinse.

Hair conditioner helps keep your locks soft and shiny. If you have colour-treated hair, use a conditioner formulated for coloured hair to prevent fading.

Never skip the Conditioner — The Conditioner helps soften and lock in moisture.

Deep conditioning treatments help restore moisture to dry hair previously damaged by heat or chemical processes. It is excellent to add to your routine when colouring or highlighting your hair since this can dry out the hair.

Dry your hair gently after washing.

Dry your hair gently after washing. Avoid heavy-handed brushing; this can cause breakage. Instead, blot the excess moisture with a towel or, even better, wrap it in a microfiber towel.

And gently brush with a wet brush, explicitly starting at the ends and working your way up. Adding a detangling leave-in conditioner helps this process, especially for long hair that tangles easily)

Use heat protectant & don’t be afraid of the blow dryer

Many people believe blow-drying their hair can be harmful and damaging, so they avoid it altogether. But don’t be fooled!! The blow dryer is a non-direct heat source that closes the cuticle after washing and keeps the hair healthier and shinier than air drying.

Flat irons, however, can cause damage if used without care as it is a direct heat source on the hair stands. Therefore, be SURE to use a heat protectant before straightening or curling your hair.

Treat your hair right and avoid harsh chemicals and non-professional colouring systems (box dye) or DIY projects.

Colouring your hair from a box or do yourself at home can harm your scalp and hair & should be done by a trained professional. Always opt for products made from good quality ingredients and recommended.

This way, you can keep your hair healthy,  strong and well-maintained. But you also avoid any mistakes that cost a lot of time and money to correct in the Salon.

Wash with lukewarm water.

When washing your hair, use lukewarm water and avoid hot water as much as possible because it can dry out your scalp and is too harsh.

Avoid frequent hair treatments like smoothing or colouring treatments. Always seek a professional’s opinion.

While these treatments can make your hair look shiny and beautiful, they can also damage your strands if done too often; always consult a professional before these treatments to get the best possible advice to keep your hair in the best condition!

Conclusion

While there are many hair tips, these should help get you started on a healthy hair regimen. It’s never too early to start taking care of your hair. If unsure what works for you, consider consulting a professional stylist or dermatologist.
